The CUNA meeting held at Madison, USA in 1958 approved the admission of credit union leagues throughout the world. The association applied for and received membership and steps were taken to rename it the NSW Credit Union League Co-operative Limited. The league was registered under its new name on 23 October 1958. The membership of CUNA, the contacts that this enabled and the meetings attended did much to assist the infant movement in New South Wales to acquire the necessary skills for development.
In 1981, the name was changed to the Credit Union Association of NSW. In 1982, amalgamation with the Association of Newcastle & District Credit Unions and the Association of Southern Credit Unions , led the organisation to become the Association of New South Wales Credit Unions. After Project Renewal, the work of the Association of New South Wales Credit Unions, the other state bodies and the Australian Federation of Credit Unions Ltd (AFCUL) was taken over by the new national body Cuscal.
