1972 - 1982
The Association of Newcastle & District Credit Unions was formed as a peak body based in the Hunter region of NSW by credit unions dissatisfied with the administration of the NSW Credit Union League (later the Association of NSW Credit Unions).

It began with nine industrial credit unions, including some based in building societies. In the 1970’s there was much disagreement among NSW credit unions which put the established NSW Credit Union League under considerable pressure. By 1982 there was general agreement and the Association of Newcastle & District Credit Unions joined forces with the newly named Association of NSW Credit Unions.

Our Association of Newcastle & District Credit Unions collection includes meeting minutes, governance documents, financial reports and correspondence.
