From this point the VCCA became the main peak body for credit unions in Victoria (often known as credit co-operatives or credit societies) until the establishment of Cuscal and the disestablishment of state peak bodies in 1992. The credit union movement spread rapidly in the early years of the association and by 1980 there were 210 credit unions in Victoria (almost one third of the credit unions in Australia).
Our large collection of VCCA holdings include annual reports, meeting minutes, governance documents, correspondence, year books, magazines, newsletters, discussion papers, photographs, videos and oral history recordings.
