The Credit Union Services Co-operative of South Australia (CUSCOSA) was initially formed in 1976, however it was reconstituted on 1 July 1979 following the recommendations of a working party looking to reform South Australian credit unions. The new Credit Union Association of South Australia was formed out of the same reforming drive. The work of CUSCOSA was redundant with the creation of Cuscal in 1992 and it was dissolved.

All South Australian credit unions were invited to participate in the Co-operative which provided the following services:
* Central Banking and Financing
* Data Processing
* Supply of materials
* Electronic Funds Transfer systems
* Education and training services
