The NSW Credit Union Employers' Association was established in 1974 to act as an organisation of employers under the laws of Australia or the State of New South Wales. This included representing the interests of employers in the credit union movement before courts, boards, conciliation committees and other bodies of employers or employees. Membership was available to credit unions registered under the Credit Union Act (NSW). The association also provided industrial relations support and a range of services including updates of clerical awards, advice on trade union activities that could potentially affect awards and expert advocacy.

In 2011, the name was changed to the Australian Credit Union Employers’ Association and in 2015 it became the Mutual Banking Employers' Association. At a special meeting of members in March 2023, a resolution was passed to dissolve the association due to the dwindling of membership numbers and dwindling use of association services.

Our Mutual Banking Employers' Association collection includes meeting minutes, annual reports, industrial registry papers and correspondence. We also hold records of an alternative and shorter-lived Australian Credit Union Employers' Association which began in 1972.
