QBANK was registered as Queensland Police Co-operative Credit Union in 1964. It took a long time to get to that point however, with the Queensland Police Union holding meetings on the subject going back to 1958. By 1964 they got all their ducks in a row, and they’ve never looked back. The inventiveness of the mutual model is observed in a fact of QBANK’s history – they introduced a computerised accounting system way back in 1970. A significant achievement. Our large collection of QBANK records includes annual reports from 1970 onwards, several formal histories including the book The History of QPCU 1964-2004, oral history recordings with Directors and staff, newsletters, news clippings and contemporary governance documents and reports published online.

1964 - Registered as Queensland Police Co-operative Credit Union
1968 - Name changed to Queensland Police Credit Union
1994 – Merged with Credit Union Limited (QLD)
2015 - Changed company name to QPCU Limited at 2015 AGM.
2016 - Commenced trading under the name QBANK as a customer owned bank.
