Australian Mutual Bank is one of the most storied customer owned banks in the country. It is the result of the merger of Sydney Credit Union (SCU) and Endeavour Mutual Bank in 2019. SCU has its roots in the City Council Employees' Credit Union Co-Operative which was formed in June 1963 with plenty of help from legendary credit union personality Dermot Ryan. Endeavour Mutual Bank goes back to Motor Transport Employees Savings and Loans Co-operative which was registered in NSW in 1953. On 1 May 2026, Australian Mutual Bank merged with Teachers Mutual Bank.
