Australian Military Bank began as a credit union for Navy personnel. It was registered in NSW as Navy (Civil Staff) Credit Union Co-operative Limited in 1959. In 1983 it opened to the army, merging with Army Defence (NSW) Credit Union to form Australian Defence Credit Union (ADCU). It became Australian Military Bank in 2015 around the same time it welcomed its 50,000th member.
