The Credit Union League of South Australia (CULSA) was formed in 1966. The role of the league was to co-ordinate and expand the work of credit unions in South Australia. The league provided services for credit unions including training for directors and staff, information technology services and supplied stationery and other materials to credit unions to enable them to benefit from economies of scale. In 1978, a working party was formed consisting of members of the Credit Union League of South Australia (CULSA) and the Savings and Loans Societies Association (SALSA). The working party recommended the abolition of CULSA and SALSA and the establishment of the Credit Union Association of South Australia and the Credit Union Services Co-operative of South Australia (CUSCOSA).
