Queensland Country Bank began supporting hardworking regional Queenslanders as the Isa Mine Employees’ Credit Union in 1971. It grew out of a community call to support the basic banking and small lending needs of employees of Mount Isa Mines Limited and related companies within the MIM umbrella, such as MIM Holdings, Carpentaria Exploration Company, Copper Refineries, Collinsville Coal Company and Townsville Transport Services (TTS). It changed its name to North Queensland Credit Union in 1984 and to Queensland Country Credit Union in 1989. It has a strong presence in North Queensland in particular and its mergers in 2017 with ECU and in 2018 with Queenslanders Credit Union cemented this position. It became Queensland Country Bank in 2020.

1971 - Registered in QLD as The Mount Isa Mine Employees Credit Union
1984 - Name changed to North Queensland Credit Union
1989 - Name changed to Queensland Country Credit Union
1993 – Merged with Independent Credit Society
1998 – Merged with The Stafford Parish Credit Union
2005 – Merged with the South East Community Credit Society
2017 – Merged with ECU (Electricity Credit Union)
2018 – Merged with Queenslanders Credit Union
2020 - Name changed to Queensland Country Bank
2021 - Merged with Maleny Credit Union (MCU)
