The Tasmanian Credit Union League was registered on 1 June 1966 as the peak body for credit unions in Tasmania. The league was well represented by the influential credit union "cooperators" Don Closs and Paul Morley. It was quick to join the first national credit union peak body, the Australian Federation of Credit Union Leagues (AFCUL), when it too was begun in 1966. This was before the Victorian and South Australian associations who joined a year later. The league changed its name to the Association of Tasmanian Credit Unions in 1982. As with the other state associations, the functions of the Association of Tasmanian Credit Unions were rolled into the new national peak body Cuscal when it was established in 1992.

Aside from oral history recordings with the aforementioned Closs and Morley our Association of Tasmanian Credit Unions collection includes early annual reports, early board minutes, correspondence, governance documents, educational material and newsletters.
