The Australian Credit Union Institute Ltd (ACUI) was formed in 2006 from the merger of the Australian Institute of Credit Union Managers (AICUM) and the Australian Institute of Credit Union Directors Ltd (AICUD). But soon after it became the Australasian Mutuals Institute or AMInstitute (AMI). The role of AMI was to promote excellence, professionalism and integrity in the directors, managers and staff of all mutuals; to improve their knowledge and skills with respect to their rights, duties and responsibilities; and to promote a high standard of ethics amongst such directors, managers and staff. AMI also facilitated the education and professional development of mutual directors, managers and staff.
