A few months after Waterside Workers of Australia Credit Union was registered in May 1970, Credit Union Quest announced, “Waterside Workers of Australia Credit Union has already signed up hundreds of members … this new credit union with a potential membership of 19,000 could easily become the biggest in Australia …Members of the Waterside Workers Federation or staff employed by the Federation or branch offices of the WWF are eligible to join”.

1970 - Registered in NSW as Waterside Workers of Australia Credit Union
1975 – Merged with The ASOA Credit Union Limited (NSW)
1994 - Name changed to Maritime Workers of Australia Credit Union
2008 - Merged with Power Credit Union to become Maritime, Mining and Power Credit Union
2010 - Merged with Gosford City Credit Union
2010 - Merged with Australian Country Credit Union (trading as Reliance Member Banking) which became Reliance Credit Union, a division of Maritime, Mining and Power Credit Union
2016 - Maritime, Mining and Power Credit Union became Unity Bank
April 2016 - Merged with Shell Employees Credit Union
2017 - Bankstown City Credit Union merged with Unity Bank (it became a division of Unity Bank and changed its name to Bankstown City Unity Bank (BCUB)
2018 – Merged with Central Coast Credit Union (CCCU rebranded as Central Coast Unity Bank)
2025 - Merged with G&C Mutual Bank
