In 1959 the Qantas Staff Co-operative Credit Union was registered in NSW. Today you and I know it as Qudos Bank. It was created by Qantas employees who had a need for affordable loans that were otherwise inaccessible to them in the mainstream finance industry. Many years ago, the members of the credit union voted against opening the bond to Qantas shareholders and Qantas Club members as they feared losing the independence of the credit union. Those days are long gone and while Qudos Bank has an open bond it retains a good relationship with Qantas.

Our Qudos Bank collection includes annual reports from 1967 onwards, newsletters, news clippings, an oral history recording with long-time Director Gary Halliday and contemporary governance documents and reports published online.

1969 - Name changed to Qantas Staff Credit Union
1998 – Merged with Aviat-APS Staff Credit Union
2016 - Changed name to Qudos Bank
2025 - Merged with Bank Australia. Continued to trade as Qudos Bank
