People's Choice Credit Union was formed from the amalgamation of Australian Central Credit Union and Savings and Loans Credit Union (S.A.) on 1 December 2009. These forming credit unions have strong histories with Savings and Loans Credit Union’s (S.A.) history recorded in, From a Fridge to a Really Cool Home Loan - Savings and Loans 1949-2004, held in our archive. The name “People’s Choice” took some time to take on with a large minority of the membership not convinced of the name. This demonstrates the democratic structure of mutuals. Eventually, they came around and the name was changed to People’s Choice Credit Union in 2011. This was later shortened to People’s Choice. In 2023 it merged with Heritage Bank forming Heritage and People's Choice Ltd. The combined entity trades as People First Bank.

Along with a large collection of records of its foundational mutuals our People's Choice collection includes annual reports from the 2010s and contemporary governance documents and reports published online.
