The Capricornian Bank was registered as The Credit Union of Capricornia in 1981. However, its roots go back to 1959 and the establishment of Park Avenue Community Credit Union. When Park Avenue merged with North Rockhampton Credit Union in 1981, the Capricornian was born. Preceding the 1981 merger, Park Avenue Community Credit Union opened its bond to the broader Central Queensland community which laid the groundwork for future growth and stability as The Capricornian Bank.
