Bank Orange began as an industrial credit union in Orange, NSW. It was registered as Email (Orange) Employees Credit Union in December 1964. Email began in 1912 and set up shop in the former Orange Small Arms Factory in 1946 where it manufactured electricity meters, pumps, radio parts and refrigerators. By the time it became Orange Mutual Credit Union in 1973 its bond was opened to local residents and the transformation from an industrial to a community credit union was complete.

We hold a significant stock of Bank Orange records including annual reports dating back to 1968, correspondence, photographs, video, the Orange Mutual Credit Union: thirty years 1964-1994 booklet and other historical documents and publications, oral history recordings with Directors and staff and contemporary governance documents and reports published online.

1964 - Registered in NSW as Email (Orange) Employees Credit Union
1973 – Merged with Orange Base Hospital Staff Credit Union
1973 - Name changed to Orange Mutual Credit Union
1974 – Merged with Ophir County Council Employees Credit Union
1982 – Merged with Orange Commonwealth Employees Credit Union
1995 - Name changed to Orange Credit Union
2024 - Name changed to Bank Orange
