Bank First was formed by members of the Victorian Teachers Union for their members and families in 1972. It was initially known as VTU Credit Union Co-operative. Teachers and public servants in general have thrived in Australian customer owned banks and Bank First has a long and proud history.

We hold a significant collection of Bank First material including annual reports back to 1976, newsletters, newsclippings, two published histories - Apples for Teachers: a history of VTU Credit Union Co-operative (1994) and A Bank for Teachers – a History of Victoria Teachers Mutual Bank 1992-2012 and contemporary reports published online.
