Today we’re introducing a video that takes us back to the early days of the Australian Credit Unions Visa card. Historically, the Australian customer owned banking sector has been technological innovators and thought leaders. That includes the fields of electronic banking and plastic card adoption. Examples of customer owned banking futurism include the first 24-hour ATM in Australia (1977), the first EFTPOS service (1981) and in 1984 the first home telephone banking service and the first international VISA ATM withdrawal.

This nine-minute production is hosted by Bruce Bond for the Association of NSW Credit Unions (ANSWCU) from 1985. Bruce Bond was a TV finance guru of the 1980s and he had a lengthy relationship with ANSWCU.

Bond presents the findings of a nation-wide survey of credit unions regarding the new Visa Card. He reads correspondence from various credit unions, outlines a new TV ad campaign and generally attempts to persuade his audience of credit union managers to dip into their pockets to aid in the cause of promoting the Australian Credit Unions Visa Card.
