2004 - 2006
On 30 June 2004, the Credit Union Industry Association was formed incorporating the assets of the former Cuscal Industry Association. While it remained within Cuscal, the association had its own governance and Advisory Committee. Representing credit union interests it provided compliance advice, market research, strategic advice, fraud prevention assistance, achieved amendment to the financial sector regulatory regime (FSR) and protected the interests of credit unions in payment systems reform such as ATMs direct charging. It also worked in the prudential area including deposit insurance and international financial reporting standards. In 2006, the Credit Union Industry Association joined forces with the Australian Association of Permanent Building Societies (AAPBS) to form ABACUS (Association for Building Societies and Credit Unions) . In 2013, ABACUS became the Customer Owned Banking Association (COBA).

Our Credit Union Industry Association collection includes a discussion paper and marketing material.
