The formation meeting of Warwick and District Community Credit Union was held on 18 June 1970, and it was registered on 26 June 1970. A large part of the thanks for the formation must go to the Queensland Credit Union League who were busy creating many credit unions at the time. In 1973 the credit union bought the Gympie National Bank building and remodelled it as its headquarters. The name was changed to Warwick Credit Union in 1987. In 2018 it merged with Gympie Credit Union. On 1 September 2025 Warwick Credit Union became Darling Downs Bank.
Our collection of Darling Downs Bank records includes annual reports from 1973 onwards, the book The Friendly One: a history of the Warwick Credit Union Ltd 1970-1995, newsletters, photographs and contemporary governance documents and reports published online.
