On 1 July 1982 Summerland Credit Union was formed from the amalgamation of North Coast Authorities Credit Union and NORCO Co-Operative (Summerland) Credit Union. In 1987 their bond changed from an industrial one to a community one effective in local government areas north of Grafton to the Queensland border. It now has an open bond. Two significant mergers in the 2000s cemented its position and it became Summerland Bank in 2023.
