Central Murray Bank is a rare beast in Australian customer owned banking in that it wasn’t established at a workplace or a church parish. It was formed as a general community credit union after a call out for a formation meeting was made in the press in July 1972. It was registered as Yarrawonga Credit Union on 1 August 1972. The head office remains in Yarrawonga, a Victorian town 268 km North of Melbourne and 92 km West of Albury. It changed its name to Central Murray Credit Union in 2002. On 31 March 2025 it became Central Murray Bank.
Our collection of Central Murray Bank material includes annual reports since 1995, the book 21 Years History 1972-1993 – Yarrawonga Credit Union, as well as newsletters.
